Play By Ear Overview

Welcome to this lesson the overview to playing by ear.

Playing by ear is… Awesome! It allows you to learn songs quickly (minutes instead of weeks!). It allows you to make songs your own. It helps you truly understand musicĀ instead of just copying notes on a page.

Here’s a video on how the course is organized. Then there’s also an important video on “How to Get the Most Out of the Quizzes” (Note: This is a different one than Music Theory “Quizzes” video).

Remember, by getting this course, you ALSO have access to the Music Theory Course. Use the menus on the top and left side (under the “Music Theory Course” headings) for those lessons.

How to Get the Most Out Of the Quizzes

There ya have it.

Now before you go on… I want to tell you the 2 BIGGEST mistakes people make when trying to learn to play by ear.

1. Not Doing The Theory Lessons

Theory is JUST as important as ear training to learn to play by ear. If you don’t do the theory lessons along with the ear training lessons you won’t be able to understand them.

2. Not Taking Action

They WATCH all the lessons, but don’t DO anything about it.

Don’t fall into this trap. After you watch EACH LESSON, do the exercises. Take the quiz. And DON’T go on to the next lesson until you understand it.

This may take you a day. It may take you a week. It doesn’t matter, keep grindin’ until you understand the lesson. It’ll save you tons of time in the long run because once you know this skill, you’ll be able to learn songs in minutes.

Oh, and one more thing. Do me a favor and click the link below to download this PDF “clues” checklist. You won’t use it yet, but once you get to the quizzes you’ll be using it ALL the time.
